Sewing Quickly
Dear Baby Roo,
Last time, I told you about sewing slowly, but that requires a lot of determination on my part. It may be a character flaw, but it is SO satisfying and fun to have projects that come together in one or two short sittings. These are those kind of projects.
First, is a t-shirt remake:
It is the Warhol Dress by Dana Made It. It is a free pattern on her site and is great for cutting up old t-shirts. Making the bias trim is the most time consuming thing about it.
I added a little fabric flower along the hem and it looks cute, but the extra weight of that fabric makes the hem hang slightly lower on that side.
The second quick project was a little shirred elastic top/dress out of some vintage gauze-like fabric. This is fabric that your Gramma Gramma made me doll clothes with when I was little and there was just enough left to make something for you. It was so sheer that I doubled it.
Straps with buttons at different heights will let you wear this as a dress or a shirt.
Now, if we could just find a house we like and get things out of storage, we’d have the 50 year old doll clothes that Gramma Gramma made to show with it!
I love you Baby Roo!
Hooroo.
